Trinity Health Saves $80 Million—and Counting—with Epic Migration

In Chief Healthcare Executive, Trinity Health leaders Mike Prokic and Nick O’Connor describe how the health system’s move to Epic sparked a broader effort to retire legacy applications—one that has saved $80 million and counting, with estimated savings expected to exceed $100 million.

What began as a defined project evolved into an ongoing program the leaders call a “big differentiator” for the organization. Beyond cost reduction, Trinity Health has strengthened its cybersecurity by eliminating vulnerable older systems while preserving their historical data.
