Stroke Brain Trust Works with Epic to Combat Strokes

Strokes are the fifth-leading cause of death in the United States, even though the National Stroke Association says 80% of them are preventable.

In pursuit of reducing the number of preventable strokes, Epic collaborated with the American Heart Association and 12 Epic community members—referred to as the Stroke Brain Trust—to identify best practices for documenting and abstracting stroke care data within Epic. This makes it easier for Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Centers to submit stroke measure data, allowing objective assessments of care and more accurate recommendations for best practices.
