Specialty Steering Boards Improve Quality on a Global Scale

Elected by their peers, Specialty Steering Boards guide Epic’s content and strategy for their specialties. Their work on best practices is shared with the whole Epic community, benefiting millions of patients. The Adult Oncology Board, for example, has defined how to best collect and review distress screenings using MyChart questionnaires that are integrated with physicians’ workflows.

Representatives from many of the most respected health systems in the country comprise separate adult and pediatric Specialty Steering Boards for cardiology, urology, endocrinology, emergency medicine, oncology, orthopaedics, and obstetrics. Newly formed boards for 2016 include anesthesia, dermatology, neurosciences, ENT, and population health.
