Epic’s Happy Together design creates a unified, patient-centered view of MyChart

Providence St. Joseph Health based in Renton, Washington, is one of the growing number of organizations using Happy Together, an Epic design philosophy that consolidates information from across organizations in a single, merged view for both patients and providers.

Tabitha Lieberman, senior vice president of clinical and revenue applications at Providence St. Joseph Health, said that patients have expressed their appreciation for the convenience of using a single MyChart app to view their health information from different healthcare organizations.

“MyChart is now centered on the patient, not around each organization,” Lieberman said. “It’s so much more convenient for patients—it’s about putting all of the data in one place.”

Physicians also benefit from having a comprehensive view of a patient’s chart without moving between screens.

“Physicians have indicated in surveys that the merged view makes it easier for them to see a patient’s complete health history,” Lieberman said. “They’ve reached out to tell me that this is so much better, and I take that as a win.”
