Lebanon Goes Live with Epic

The American University of Beirut Medical Center has completed the jump from their homegrown EHR to Epic, making them the first organization in Lebanon to do so.

AUBMC finished the transition from their in-house legacy system to AubHealth, their new implementation of Epic, last November. Dr. Mohamed H. Sayegh, executive vice president for medicine and global strategy at AUBMC, said the implementation will “transform AUBMC into being the gold standard of health care in Lebanon and the region” as a key piece of the organization’s 2020 Vision initiative.

Raed Rafeh, project director for the AUBHealth implementation, sees its aim as “improving and standardizing the delivery of healthcare services” to the people of Lebanon, but AUBMC also plays a vital role as a hub for research and physician training throughout the country and the Middle East. AUBMC joins the region’s existing Epic community of organizations in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
