By streamlining and automating ED charging in Epic, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center increased annual revenue by 28%.
Ohio State uses Epic’s facility charge calculator to analyze data in a patient’s chart and automatically suggest a level of service for billing, replacing Ohio State’s previous manual process. Now, Ohio State is seeing more accurate charging and increased revenue.
“Epic gave us the opportunity to do this in a much more methodical way,” CIO Milisa Rizer said. “We are now really seeing the accuracy of the high level of acuity of our patients and the high level of care they need. We are better able to realize what care we are actually providing.”
