More Than Half of All Kaiser Permanente Visits Are Virtual
October 31, 2016
57.5 million visits each year

Last year for the first time, more patients saw their providers virtually than in person at Kaiser Permanente. 52% of visits happened through smart phones, videoconferencing, and other e-health tools that connect patients with providers for symptoms and conditions that don’t require an in-person examination.
KP’s virtual visits–available for specialties, urgent care, and routine and follow-up care–give patients added convenience while freeing up schedules for in-person visits. By providing virtual dermatology consultations, for example, KP has almost tripled the percentage of patients who are seen in the office within 21 days.
