Easier Eligibility Verification in Epic Saves Time and Money

Wellmont Health System recently transitioned from a legacy coverage eligibility system to Epic, and it’s paying off big with time and money savings. In just a few clicks, registrars can access up-to-date eligibility and copay information directly from payors instead of having to connect through a clearinghouse. These quick, direct verifications helped Wellmont increase their point of service collections by 14% across all locations over one fiscal year.

Gundersen Health System experienced similar success with their recent push to connect directly to more payors using Epic. They decreased the number of eligibility transactions that moved through their clearinghouse by 44%, eliminating clearinghouse overages.
