Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Is First Stage 7 Award Winner in the UAE

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is a multispecialty hospital that brings the world-class care and expertise of U.S.-based Cleveland Clinic to the Middle East. Recently, the organization was awarded HIMSS Stage 7 for its improvements using Epic, including:

• Reducing the CAUTI rate by 50%
• More than doubling first case on time starts
• Reducing OR cancellations from 24.6% to 5.5%

The organization also used Epic to account for changes in patient arrival patterns during Ramadan. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi predicted that patient arrivals would drop in the afternoon and increase after sunset, when the daily Ramadan fast ends. With Epic, they determined appropriate staffing levels for the late evening and adjusted physician schedules accordingly.
