MyHeart: Epic’s New Dating Portal
A new dating service that focuses on your medical data and history could be the most accurate matchmaker yet.
Epic’s newest product, MyHeart, runs advanced searches to find patients near you who might be a good match based on hundreds of criteria, including your problem list, allergies, medications, and more. If two patients swipe right on each other, they’ll be matched up, and generative AI will analyze their MyChart message histories to suggest potential conversation starters or first date ideas. Patients who wear smart devices can choose to include third-party health and fitness information like step counts, sleep patterns, or average heart rate to improve the algorithm’s accuracy.
Epic legal and regulatory teams are in discussions with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about how patients with Epic electronic medical records could “opt in” to MyHeart, thus avoiding any potential HIPAA violations.
