HPH named a HIMSS Davies Award winner for the second time

Hawai’i Pacific Health has been recognized as the winner of one of healthcare IT’s most prestigious awards, the HIMSS Davies, for the second time.

To land this top honor, HPH demonstrated that they used their Epic EHR to improve patient outcomes while also seeing a return on investment. HPH cited a number of Davies-worthy accomplishments, including:

  • Reducing the length of stay for all sepsis patients by almost 2 full days and saving 275 lives over 2 years.
  • Increasing annual revenue by $72 million.
  • Reaching the 90th percentile for many chronic disease and diagnostic screening benchmarks, after starting at the 50th percentile or below.

HPH joins another Epic organization, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, in receiving the award twice. HPH was previously awarded the Davies in 2012, when they reported a 9% return on their Epic investment and a reduction in the CAUTI rate by as much as 79% at some hospitals.
